Painted skin and smiles

All right, Cheehui and Huiwen nailed it this time. I should have trusted my bff who watches all kinds of silly show, be it lame slapstick comedy or taiwan dramas (eg. hotshot), but still doesnt find them silly. So when she said, "Bu Hao Kan de lor!". I should have trusted her.The show wasnt up to our expectations although there were a few funny moments. And to me, the presence of Zhou Xun in the show was already worth the ticket price. HAHA! Nevertheless, it was a great gathering with peixuan gracing it. LOL Havent seen that girl for donkey years! Not even after she came back from Australia!! So it was a good catching up session. Usual gang includes Yiheng, Perry Nicholas, Ebonne and Lingxian. Really glad to be seeing peixuan again. She was my home econs partner back in secondary school days and my lower sec class partner.

Caught the midnight show after a day of school and work. Learnt how to make all the frappucchinos today!! It's really getting interesting at Starbucks. How I wish I could stay at the centrepoint store after my training. Bike broke down at Orchard road and it's still there while I'm typing this. The clutch cable snapped, and the machine wouldnt move. It's gonna be next week before I can purchase and replace the defect in the machine. Just when I needed the machine for timbre outing and school tomorrow,it chose to fail me again. Oh wells.. t may be a blessing in disguise. At least it didn't break down in the middle of nowhere or on the highway!

I'm sure we all know that we need to get the typoid vaccination jab before we work in the F&B industry. So I was at the clinic earlier on, waiting for my turn to get the jab in the crowded clinic located at Liat towers.

During my time there, I made an interesting discovery. Over at the counter, I swear i saw this lady smiling happily to the receptionist about how thankful she was at one time, the next moment, I saw a total different facial expression and no trace of her wide grin could be detected in anyway. It dawned on me that we Singaporeans have actually been 'trained' to put on fake smile on occasions that are of particular importance to us, without us realising it. Especially in public relations, where u need to build good relationships with your business partners. So it's quite selective in a way. We choose to smile when we want to put up a show (ok, let's not go into sociology). It's different from the foreign culture in the sense that the ang mohs smile when they're really happy. It's so genuine that u could really feel their happiness. I bet that if you were to smile at a stranger in Singapore, he'll probably think u're crazy.

If only everyone is genuine in their approach to friends, issues and relationships. This bring us to Confucianism but we shall not talk about it now.

Ps: Time now: 2.47am and msm lecture later at 8.30am.
