Kinder surprise!

Kinder Surprise, also known as a Kinder Egg (Kinder being the German word for "Children"), is a confection originally intended for children in the form of a chocolate egg containing a small toy, often requiring assembly....

Don worry! I'm not really gonna blog about kinder surprise! Just that the dinner at a ramen restaurant with Cecilia, Shirleen, Mag and Mel really gave me a delightful surprise. The egg was particularly intriguing.
Cold on the outside, chill on the inside, enclosed with a half boiled egg yolk, with soft smooth seasoned eggwhite(albumen). Yes, HALF BOILED egg yolk. If you think that nothing fanciful can come out of an egg, Think AGAIN. I was sceptical too when Cecilia and Shirleen told me about it.

From poached egg, half boiled egg, sunny side up egg, omelette, chinese salted duck egg, century egg. Just when you thought you have tried all eggs in the world (other than the vietnam fetal duck egg), a surprise popped up, and into your mouth. You have to try it yourself! The noodles were So-So to me. So was the soup. I'm really a fussy critical eater when it comes to commenting about food.

Shirleen had to leave before Azan arrived. She was so apologetic that gal. You could feel how sorry she was for not hanging around with us after dinner. Like seriously, sincerely sorry kind. A personal apology to each and everyone followed by a 'sorry sms' showed it all. '

It's OK, Shirleen! Don't worry about it!'

It was nice chatting with Azan and Cecilia and Mel. You know how it feels like when you chat with someone, you really wanna open up and let your inner self(The 'I') talk more. Yet you don really wanna open up youself. You'd hesitate after contemplating. Maybe you're afraid it may make you look more vulnerable and weak when you shoot your mouth off. I used to be able to converse well enough to hold a proper conversation. I find myself tongue tied most of the time nowadays. There was this period I often act dumb. I guess, playing dumb really makes u dumb over time. Acting stupid doesn't make you cleverer over time. They all became habits and part of you as time pass.

Bff's going Zouk tmr for Halloween. Sounds really interesting and FUN!!!! She's gonna skip class tmr to ponder over her costume. That idiot. LOL. Wonder what she's gonna dressed up as. Hope Cecilia's knee heal soon. And Mel to recover fully from her toothache! Oh ya, and I'm going Night Safari with Sokky and gang tmr!!! Have a fun Friday evening guys!!

Random: Brandon Flowers(lead singer in the killers)'s trimmed eyebrows look really nice. I feel like going for a trim myself!

First things First

Shit. I totally forgot about water polo training today. Havent been going lately and I had to miss it on one of those days when I'm actually free. I knew I had something on, but couldt recall. Damn.. I could 'hear' the fats around my belly cheering ecstacially.

I was studying in the library when the phone rang. It was Ah Bu. One of the PS starbucks stuff.

'Do you know you're supposed to work today?,' he asked.

'No? The manager didn't get back to me about my schedule.'

'you're supposed to call and check. Next time, call in if you're unable to make it to work. Can you come down now. (its not a question mark)'

Of cos I rejected him! I mean Come on, I dont sit by the phone whole day, wait for your call and report to work as and when u want me to..The manager could have been more efficient in his communication and and.. Ah Bu could have not sound as rude as he had. I was a bit flustered at first, But decided not to let it bother me.

The library was packed with people when I reached in the afternoon. With the Os and As coming, I could understand why. So I had to settle for some corner in some funny corner HAHA. Bumped into kingston, my secondary classmate. I invited him to sit beside me before we carried on studying, and do some catching up. Oh ya, I saw Jeffery too. Yes, that Jeffery. Everyone's so hardworking now. Kinda make me gan chiong. plus plus I still have many things of my own to be done! Whereas Bff been living by her motto in life, "tmr den study". HAHA That slacker.
Argh.. Prioritise! Prioritise!

On the side note: I kinda like 'The Killers' though their lyrics don really make sense most of the time. =)

Wish you were here!

Finally back from Berkelah Falls (Pahang, Malaysia). It was an Sim Odac trekking session which was pretty much well paced. Well paced here means pretty relax haha. Iris and Dinesh were our OGL while OG1 consisted of Willaim, Keat yin, Elias, Yi an, Nat, me, Peiqi, Wanting, Wanshan, Regina. There were 3 OGs in total. I must say that I kinda like our OG. Which was filled with Interesting characters, evenly balanced with people equipped with different talents. We had this 'buddy system' and Peiqi was my trekking partner. =)

We set off at night on the 24th, to reach there in the morning around 7+. (Yes, a Long bus ride!) Upon arrival, We set off pretty quickly after pitching our tents and briefing conducted by Minglong. The OGs then took turns to 'lead the pack' up the summit. We followed the trails left behind by people in front, climbed the rocks on all fours, walked in the water, felt the ground/sand in the water, sliding from point to point with butts and all other kinds of trekking scenarios u could possibly think of. Oh ya, Peiqi and Regina were trekking with poor footwear, But they werent the least affected! And of course, People were clicking their cameras non stop, everywhere, anywhere. Same scenaries, same people, with different cameras. HAHAH! OG1 was quite cool(Except Elias cos he went to other OG to take pictures) Almost everyone brought cameras, but we werent as 'whore' as the rest.

Peiqi was quite a funny character, smiling and laughing non stop. She kinda acted as if she was walking on a tight rope in the beginning of the trek by balancing with her hands spread out at times. But she got used to the trek quickly when she improved her stability by lowering her CG instead of spreading her hands. Oh ya, and Peiqi is a quiet person. LOL

Regina was pretty tough, trekked fast and steady without any help most of the time despite her inappropriate footwear. Yi an was her partner. and boy, that guy could really talk! About anything and everything, anytime and anywhere! (Reminds me of yongsen from CCI).

Willaim was the trek's cameraman with his Nikon DSLR. Glad He didn't missed out any fun due to taking pictures for us while keat yin liked to pose for pictures, squatting on gigantic rocks.

We eventually trekked to a place high but safe enough. Somewhere we could leap off the edge and plunged into the clear water. Most of the people in the OG did the plunge (how brave is that!). We then bathe in that very same stream that night. (Yes, we bathe and brush our teeth from a stream!)
Speaking of bathing in a stream, shall let you all in to something. (you have to ask me about it!)

Spent the night in the Exco's tent with JiaJia, Iris, Lyn and Minglong. It was quite an enjoyable chat in the tent, practically talking about random stuff,like things from our childhood days, playing Fuzzy wazzy and other things.. Minglong got it pretty quickly. Lyn took a year plus since last year and until today, still haven got it.

JiaJia was also another funny character man. She could fell aslp, holding on to a torch, without switching it off! We bought some snacks together and it was pretty much a headache for me all thanks to her funny questions about the products! Whether it has expired, how many percentage of rock sugar in it, what if this, what if that. ARGH!! Headache!!!!

Last stop was at city square's 茶餐厅. And sure they have interesting Jars and Containers for their beverges! Definitely not the normal kind of glasses/cups/mugs you'd had expected. Odac activities/outing trips have always been fun, interesting and inspiring. This time was no different. A Picture speaks a thousand words. Shall upload them again when they send me the photos. Wished all of you could have been there with me!

Holland Village!

Studied with 'She-whom-you-know-whose-name-must-not-be-mentioned' after Class before joining the rest for dinner. (Remind you of Voldemort in Harry Potter?). Yup, So went for dinner at Holland Village with Arron, Azan, Cecilia, Darran, Mag, Mel.

Yes, A super random group but it was pretty fun! Azan with his viewfinder camera, taking pictures of himself non stop, Darran and his moment of the day when he spoke to the chinese waitress in english after Azan asked him to translate. And with Arron practically laughing at everything! It was so enjoyable..Mag was a great company, sitting beside me and Idiotic Mel whom I finally met up with. Oh ya, I really like that mango glutinous rice thingy at Thai Express! We should have more dinners like this man! (But not too often)

It started raining when we were halfway into our dinner, But we werent leaving yet. Stayed awhile at Thai express while our stomachs digest our food, before Darran took us for our SP roundabout walk in the rain as Mel wanted to 'say hi' to Shirleen and gang who were in the same area at Essential Brew. So we went up But decided not to stay and interupt them ( We should have our own fun man, and yes we did!)

Just before we part and head home respectively, I was telling Azan how desperate I was to get a pump of petrol as I've been running on reserve tank for awhile now. There was no petrol kiosk at sight. So I decided to try my luck by dashing home. Azan also needed a Pump at that time. Riding in the rain, through a series of windy and slippery roads. Just as I was approaching botanic garden, opposite demphsey, the bike died on me slowly. Slow enough that I could move to the side of the road.. Well done.

First thing to my mind, ' Wa, seriously die ar..'

Second, ' Where am I...'

Third, ' Call Azan for help!'

Nothing can be said enough to express my gratitude man. Azan went the extra mile, out of his way after sending everyone off to pump a $5 worth of petrol to deliver to me! Riders' integrity! He've been through the situation before, he knows how it feels man. I'm seriously touched ( so much that i feel molested),pai seh and thankful at the same time.

If not for him, I'd have to travel home, get the car, go to the nearest kiosk to pump petrol, travel down to replenish fuel in my bike, drive back late at night, take transport back anothe day to retrieve the bike. (Suppose I've to work independently of my dad).It's tiring enough just to imagine the things I've had to do.
I've never felt so in need of a fren's help.
So here I am, ' Thanks Azan for your help!'

The Faster the dash, the Harder the smash

Surprisingly, the topic of riding, driving safely came back again when I went for theory lesson today. Did you know there was this campaign 'Ride bright, stay alive' back in 90s and it's pretty much alive til today. It requires motorist to turn on their headlights 24/7, even in the day! Offenders will be fined. Jus to remind us some of the common offences under DIPS(Driver improvement points system). DIPS allows driver to accumulate less than 24 points within 24months before liable for suspension. (After your probation)

Tinted visor cause you a fine of $50. while drink driver will be awarded a fine of $3500, license suspension of 18months.Even for first time offenders! (about one and a half mug beer will exceed legal limit).
For my frens reading this(mostly females here ), I hope you gals make sure your frens are sober enough to send u home! PLease please do not compromise safety! Even if all your frens are hitching the ride, do go public if you feel its unsafe. You don have to go with the crowd! Advise your driver if you can!
(Remember there was this driver who crashed and killed someone cos he was drunk and driving against traffic flow on the highway with no headlights?! He was jailed 3years and license suspended for 20 years)

Using handphone while driving, fine $200, 12 demerit points.
Beating red lights, 12 demerit points fine $200. Speeding has a range of demerit points, depending on how much u exceeded the legal limit.

Remember the bendemeer case? The driver crashed into a bus stop. 3 were killed instantly, 4 seriously injured. The driver was so traumatised himself, he stayed in the vehicle until the police came. (Speaking of which, 1 of the seriously injured people was my neightbour. Yes, he stays next door).You wont wanna witness that. Neither do you wanna take other's lives. So please drive responsibly.

Think it's safe to speed? Think again. For motorist, We made a pledge the day we pass our test( yes we have a rider pledge). That is to ride safely and to try our best to stay alive.

Speed limit on all roads in Singapore is 50km/hour unless otherwise stated.

LELE!!!!!!!

Ok, Emo wave over! and and Bff sux! Dowan fren her liao. Play with Lele better!

~~~~~~~
I'm feeling.... dejected.
Huiwen! EMo ! Emo!
You know those days, when you feel so low spirited. When you wanna be alone, watching AxN (Sharks, my cable got disconnected!). Now I have to sit in the corner of the toilet, with my legs tucked to myself, and and scrub the floor or something.
I still have to prepare for this weekend trek. Something which I have not done. My bar test tmr. Which I haven finished memorising the recipes. It seems like I've run out of energy out of a sudden. So... empty and depleted.
Perhaps I've been moving too fast. So fast that I didn't notice the things happening around me. This situation feels strange yet familiar. Feeling so helpless and lonely the moment I slow down. I miss her. But I dono who. And Having read the email about the gal who got burnt in the car accident wasnt of much help either. (one of those chained mail circulating ard). I don usually circulate mails. I will do it for this particular article.
Waves of lonliness/sadness hit me, one after another, threatening to overwhelm me. Afterall, they've been trying to catch up with me for a long time. I feel lost, disorientated. I'm confused. Slightly confused.
I need my compass.
"There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness."-Carl Jung
I hate this song
I'm feeling squeamish..
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Huiwen reminded me that the new channel okto is out! haven been watchin kids central due to saturday msm class, and now it's gone.. On the sidenote, People around me are getting real concerned about environmental issues. At work, at the chalet, basically everywhere.Use mugs instead of paper cups, Reuse paper plates, reduce wastage. In general, reduce, reuse, recycle. =)
BTW, do you know that you get a 30cents discount for using your own mug at Starbucks?
Keep left unless Overtaking!
Had lunch with Ziling, Shirleen, Herbert at coronation plaza after crashing lesson with bff. Well, the lunch topic was 'Are looks really important?'.What a coincidence! Coincides with my past entry! Well, its not on the top of my priority list definitely. Some of my past topics actually coincides with what my frens are thinking at the moment. (eg the heroes entry and huiwen, the Japanese story and Iris) I guessed I'm blogging about current issues huh? lol
MAKES ME FEEL SO YOUNG!!!~~~LOL
I missed crashing msm lesson today cos I was too tired for the morning lesson, plus the lecture was one chapter behind mine. So, no point crashing anyway =P. It started pouring around 11+ and I had to ask the car from my Dad so lazy me wouldnt had to take the train HAHAH!
Speaking of driving, Some drivers are really inconsiderate in the sense that they'd drive slowly on the overtaking lane(lane 1). Road hogging if you'd like to call it. It really pissed me. Why stay on the overtake lane when you're not overtaking?! It makes the 'Express' lane not any express anymore! I wonder if it's cos I'm so used to riding and overtaking that I'm not used to waiting anymore.
Even when I was riding, there were impatient drivers who'd dashed across the road so they could do a last minute turn, changed lane out of a sudden due to jams and worse still, without signalling! Come on! if you're that impatient, go ride a bike! Riding allows u to slip in and out of lanes, switch lane fast, have a headstart and overtake cars at traffic light. You could ride beside the driver, give him a stare before throttling off! Best still, you can feed your bike with Shell Vpower to full tank without paying more than $25! ( depends on the size of your tank of cos!).
Ok, back to the topic. Seriously, I'm not complaining cos I'm afraid u guys might knock into me( of cos I am!). But the thing is some of you may not realise the restrictions of riding a bike. When a car turns out to the main road suddenly, the ongoing motorbike may not have enough reaction time to brake in time. Bike is lighter and tend to drift further, Unlike a car, where u can stop as and when u want. An auto car uses engine brake most of the time, so the speed is controlled somehow. Manual bikes definitely needs to be accelerated in order to move. Therefore, the acceleration speed is there. Furthermore, when u cut into a bike's lane, causing it to slow down, it needs to build its speed all over again from a lower gear (Assume manual bike)Sometimes, even starting from gear 1 which can be quite frustrating!
Parking parallel has never been a problem for me as the area I live in has heaps of parallel parking lots. I can't possibly call my dad to come down to help me park whenever I finished using the car right? Therefore, I've mastered the techiniques and all the little tricks I need long ago. But I have one bad habit, that is I'd stopped, get off the car, check that the car is at a nice placing, orientated to the front, somewhere in the middle of the lot, not too out to the road before I head home. And I'd do this for several times until I'm satisfied! Weird huh!
Tips
For the drivers: you may wish to constantly check your rear mirror for the bikes as bikes appear beside you when u least expeced them. Bikes can speed right up to your bumper in seconds. One min you dont see them, the next min, they're there.
For bikers: Do not stay behind the car and overtake suddenly. Always stay at the place where the driver can see you from the side mirror before you overtake. This is for the driver to know that a motorcycle is around him. Unless he see the bike overtaking himself, he should be extremely careful meanwhile.. Definitely not at the blind spots
For car parking: allow enough space for the vehicle in front to leave. Give more room for vans and lorries, in the sense that park away from them but still in your lot as they may hit/scratch your car when twisting and turning in a constrained lot. Stick closer to Luxury cars as their drivers would definitely be more careful to prevent scratching or bumping their cars!
Editorial chalet!!
Had class in the morning before I went for the chalet in the evening. Studied with the person who wishes to maintain a low profile(we know who is she right). Argh.. POA always gives me headaches.
The chalet was really fun and I made a few more friends. I'd like to thank the people who made it possible. People like me, who paid my share for the chalet if not, it'd not be possible. Me, who ate the food despite they taste quite sour due to too much lime as mentioned by sui ching. Me who slept and utilised the bed in the chalet, if not they'd be lying out cold all night.. HAHAHH
Ok that was stupid. Anyway, I would really like to thank the organising committee, namely the freshies and the year 2 old birds like Cheeboon, Ferlicia,Bryan Cherlyan and of cos our 'head', Kevin. I could 'feel' their efforts. Games were prepared and logistics were duly taken care of. Junyu volunteered his sister's hoola hoop as usual, while Iris prepared her card games and shot glass games! Thank Iris for carrying all that stuff! ( I know how troublesome that can be).The freshies were fun and enthusiastic. Mambo lessons were conducted as well thanks to paperfist, Ziquan. I'm sure Cheeboon, Ferlicia,Cherlyan and co took care of the coordination as well. There were a few unfamiliar faces as well, I didn't get their names. I guessed I'm really old. Anyway, It felt good to see those good old familiar faces around. Junyu, keil, ferlicia, charmaine, boon and the rest ( Poor Alan had ICT and couldn't make it).
Made our way home the next day morning after checking out. While the DJ committee people stayed at whitesands for their meeting. How 'ON' was that!! Or should i say how tiring was that! I was on the way home when I witnessed this incident.
HAHAH! How funny was that! I wanted to stop on the highway road shoulders just to take picture of that. But it'd be silly if I were to get knocked down cos of that. Imagine the headlines next morning. " Kaypo Singaporean killed while witnessing funny incident". HAHAH! But I reckoned it'd appeared in the news so I gave up that idea.And I had to detour cos the particular route which was sealed was the route I was supposed to take!
Remember the previous post about the plane stuck on tpe? LOL Coincidently, this happened on TPE/SLE as well! Woo hoo~~
On a side note: Political stuff happening in school and work. Wa Kao, make coffee only also got politics. Issit cos of the U.S. elections? Btw, I think 'Billy Bombers' is supporting Obama by offering the 1-for-1 Obama burger. LOL.
I'm wishing the best for my frens involved in the politics. At the same time, I feel really blessed with what I have now =) Take it easy man~~
Connect, Discover, Respond.
Ergh!! I jus can't seem to connect, discover and respond!!!
Sorry I have to talk about work again. But you can't blame me Since I'm spending most of my time at work nowadays. HAHH
Connect, Discover, Responds means you have to chat to the customers, while they're waiting for their drinks, while you are making their drinks. Basically, Connect with them, discover more about them and respond to their answers. Sounds simple enough,just chatting. Yet I can't seem to be able to do it! Guess what, CDR is one of criterias to pass my bar test on Wednesday.
As if remembering all the recipes to the Frappuccinos, hot beverages and ice teas isnt hard enough, I have to ask the customers about their day. To show that we care. To create the 'starbucks experience'. Those who know me would probably know I can chat with people. But.... I'd do it only if I want to do it. I don wanna do it, cos i have to do it!
It's like following through motions, doing things for the sake of doing things! I don like that!
There's this person in the store who acts as the 'bad cop', whacking me when i do the wrong things, (eg, drinking espresso shots), who's kinda immature. He seems pretty unhappy with his life/work. You know, the kind of people who makes your life at work tough by yelling at you,to make you feel down, maybe to stamp their authorities or to vent their frustrations from their outside work life. In my dictionary, there's no such thing as seniors or shifu(my colleagues like to acknowledge their shifu). We are all friends. If you wan my respect for you as a teacher, you'd have to earn it. =)
Normally, I'd laugh it off or put on a smile when 'bad' things happen. Sadly, I think this is how we should act when you're out in the society working. To learn, you have to be humble, and undergo maybe humiliating training. I'd regard myself as highly malleble with high tolerance. Normally at work, I'd act like a retard so they have to teach me everything from scratch. If not they'd assumed you know how to do it and then labelled you as a smart aleck when you don deliver the results they want. I think this is not the best way cos overtime, you'd really become a retard.
This is a real story which happened in Japan. Years ago. There was this Japanese, who had receding hairline. Namely, balding. His friends around him laughed at him for this.. Calling him 'botak', and other names, making fun of him probably.
Most of the times, he'd laugh it off and at times, he'd even laughed at himself!
Everyone thought he didn't mind and continued mocking him.
One day he committed suicide for God-knows-what reason by jumping off the building. Friends were puzzled. Nobody knew why he did what he did.. They eventually found a handwritten will left behind by him. At the end of the will, he commented, "All along, I didn't like it when you people made fun of me. I hate myself for being bald. Why must you guys make fun of me".
Just because nobody corrected you, doesnt mean you were right all along. When people don say anything it doesnt mean they like/dislike the way you're treating them. They're probably jus tolerating. So, try to put yourself in other's shoes from time to time! ( I'm posting 'My Philosophies in life' post soon!).
Lazy friday..
Dear bff today decided to skip class due to work commitment, and as Aaron decided Not to skip his actual class, I was all alone for Balwant Singh's POA. On a Friday morning.
"To Bff,
POA is like driving a car. You need to follow the rules ok. You cannot think today green light you wan to stop, red light you wan to go. Suka Suka, you wan skip POA. You cannot I think, I thought, My logic, your logic. You think, you think wrong ar. "
Lucky you, He didn't cover much today. Anyway, what time is the monday poa? (the class we gonna crash)
Studied with Wanping, Felicia, Sophia and Liwei for awhile before I headed home for my afternoon nap. I was already drifting in and out while studying! Surprising to see so many 2nd year students studying so early in the semester.
Mind you, School just started a month ago!
As promised, I need to talk about my amusing colleagues. But decided to be brief. (not the underwear brief). They suddenly asked this other colleague for porn while waiting for the bus. Transferred through the phone! I was shocked. Porn in the phone for what!
Next, the Hunting season. Or at least thats what I'd liked to call it.
As we all know, every start of the semester, there will be a camp for all the freshies. The freshmen orientation camp.To gather the incoming students, help them to make more friends and facilitate them in adapting to life in SIM. So they won't feel so lost or lonely in school.
The camp is also a place for the freshies to check each other out and the seniors to check out the freshies.People who needs a bf or gf, would come to this market place and make their moves. This is when the hunting season begins.Where the predators choose their next preys.
When I was a freshman last year, Other guy friends would come to me,
' Eh, so which gal u fancy?'
'Any pretty gals in your og?'
'Got see any pretty gals or not'
It kinda frustrated me a little. We were there to make friends, so what if they were pretty or not? They have to be rich also right?(HAHH!) Ok, Not that I don fancy pretty gals. But...So What? I admit that humans all love seeing beautiful and pretty things around. But you don have to make them yours! We're so superficial! If everyone goes only for the pretty gals and guys, what happens to the unpretty ones?! No one chooses to be born unpretty and fat and blah blah blah...And will they look as pretty when they turn 70? (something which we all know).
I'm not trying to be a saint here by saying all these. But looks are so superficial! Perhaps we should focus more on other criterias to being a good partner such as ability to do household chores, cook , sewing and other stuff. HAHAHH!
Afterall, beauty lies in the eye of beholder. Beauty, is subjective. Gals may find guys who can dance well hot, as ugly as they may look. Personally, I find women who can cook nice food charming. HAHAH!
I, happened to know a few desperate guys who made their moves on a few gals. Gal A said no, move on to Gal B. Gal B said no, move on to Gal C. How disgusting! They succceded eventually.
I guess it's a game of probability. The more you try, the higher your chances of succeeding.. Just like how the hunter moves from prey to prey until he can have somethin proud to show off (like animal head mannikin that hunters hang on their walls).
Like a A farmer committed to their domesticated animals. Hunters are committed to hunting.
As examinations near,the season is near to its end.
If the hunters haven caught anything by then, they'll have to wait til the next season.
But.. The hunting never stops.
A note: Seems like there's a trend settling in. Or issit only me who noticed this? That People are trying to be sage by posting 'Act smart' note on facebook nowadays.
Quick post
FOUND!
Ok, I jus got home. Time now about 1.47am. Lele had been found!
By me! His meows ricocheted off the walls in the house and woke the rest of the family. They were exhilarated.. For 3mins. Before they went back to bed. HAHH
Waited for an hour for the company transport to come pick me up after work. I shall ride the next time if I were to do the closing shift again.
Shall blog about the hunting season and my amusing colleagues next time.
Meanwhile,Marketing class tmr morning at 8.30am! Ciao!
Random issues~~
1)Ok, bike fixed after struggling for awhile due to limitation of tools. Not to mention I had been issued a summons from the TP for parking it on the footpath. I could still remember the feelings I had when i first 'strike' a summons. I'm numb to it now. HAHA
2)Did you know I was from Bendemeer Secondary? "Bendemeer~~ the school of our choice, unique in style.................." Ok, that was my school song. And did you know 'First class' was filmed on my school ground? First class is the show where 'Ronnie Tan' from 'Under One Roof" is the principle and pretty Jade Seah is the blur-looking form teacher. Btw, She's hot ok.
"First class all the way" is another show on AXN, about travel concierges, and how they arrange 'First class' holidays for their clients. ( I like that show too).
3)Btw, I've watched episode 11 and 12 for hotshot, skipping around episodes. I must say it was quite interesting whenever there were matches in the show. HaHAHH It kinda follows the plot of 'Slam dunk'. So I can roughly guess where it's heading..
4)Received an sms from Shirleen to go dinner with Cecilia and Aaron. ARGH.. Couldn't make it!! Damn.. I mean...How often do you get shirleen texting you and ask you out for dinner? Well, first time for me and I couldn't make it!! Hope She'll ask again soon AHHAH
5)Spoke with my JC classmate for awhile. Hmm..I miss my JC life! )
6) I saw on facebook that my ex rifleman just had a themed birthday party. Guess what? It was anime cosplay, with some of them dressing like ninja, wielding swords and stuff. It's really kinda cool to see this kind of theme around during birthday parties. I would think that it's kinda gayish but the girls look really cool~~
7) I've got many things to do at the moment yet so little time! Also, there's something wrong with my study guides delivery. Havent received them yet when I should have. LSE record says payment not received yet. sharks. BTW, teammates for lacrosse not settle yet!
8)As I'm typing this, I just received a news about my fren. Motorbike incident. Gonna sms him now!
The genius in us..
For my frens who are still actively involved with their freshies, you might wish to consider this place for gatherings, as promoted in our student portal quite long ago. I'm quite sure a few of us might have missed it.
The De coder's cafe offers a better price as compared to settlers and minds. Personally, I haven been there before. But I suppose it's a good place to gather around especially when it's located along bukit timah road.
As extracted from the portal,
"If you are looking for a new place to hang out with your friends, colleagues or family, you may wish to consider De Coder’s Café.De Coder’s Café is the latest board games café in town. It is centrally-located along Bukit Timah Road within the reach of Newton MRT station. They offer a wide selection of board games and a list of delicacies for you to choose from.
Some of you might know that I'm a fan of 'house' , the medical drama. So I was watching this episode of house for the third times cos it was replayed on channel 5. Doctor house said something about being normal. He said something along these lines, Normal was decided by a bunch of skinny white people who drew a circle around them. Then, classifed themselves as normal. People outside the circle was deemed as abnormal. They have to be corrected, educated, brainwashed, or even institutionalised, before they can join the group in the circle.
I think he's very right. I can relate closely to the way he thinks and the way he act. Though he may be eccentric to others, He really makes sense! In a way, shedding some light, by providing an alternative way of looking at the reasons behind our actions.
Are you in , or are you out?
Ouch!
Argh..... I need a new blogskin.
This template's causing me a lot inconvenience!!
LeLe leh?
For those who did not know I have cats. Now you do. In fact, I have 2.Namely, MiMi and LeLe. MiMi is a female, LeLe a male. Like MiMi, LeLe always went missing when he was young. The difference is He's still going missing nowadays as and when he likes while MiMi has decided to stay indoor whole day.
In the day, LeLe would lied on the corridor early morning, suntanning himself before returning to the house for a full day nap. At night, He would leave the house after dinner to look for his gf downstairs.
Yes you didn't read wrongly. Girlfriend.
Well, MiMi has a boy who pestered her. I didn't think she liked him . He would come to our door, and into the house uninvited at times. If MiMi were outside, she'd come dashing in. While LeLe hold him off.(they fight sometimes). But I havent seen him around for awhile. So i supposed he had given up.
Okay, back to LeLe.
I have no idea how they met. But what we saw was, she came up to bring LeLe down. To the rooftop next block to play, run around. What they didn't know probably was we could see them from our corridor( The next block is lower).
There was this once when he brought her back home when we were watching tv around 9+. He came home first, with her following behind into the house. The moment my dad saw her, she scurried off. Well, LeLe couldn't be bothered to chase after her. He came home for dinner. 2days ago, he left after dinner and never came back. No sight of him until today.
Hope the person who finds him will call the number found on his tag. (we made a tag for him since he gets lost so often, smart huh?).
LeLe ( The happy cat)
MiMi (The sleep-like-human cat)
Old yet young ..
I'm feeling Young and Old at the same time. Yesterday's timbre was nothing impressive. People who were there included ken, galvin,vincent. Mel met up with us for awhile before heading to Zouk . Same old songs were played and galvin's requests were not played as usual. Not until he wrote the word, 'please'. HAHA! Nevertheless, it was still interesting to watch the band bickering, clowning around on the stage. A pretty gal named susilia went up to sing for awhile! (Kinda Random but there's a cute gal in my msm class =D)
I think after a certain time in life, you'll want to 'settle down' and not club anymore. Instead, you might wanna pub more, listening to live band and stuff. I think that time is nearing for me. HAHAH! As much as I miss the pretty gals at the clubs, I don't think I'd be going anymore. I think clubbing has got to be about company ya? You have to be with the right people!! My favourite gang of all times has got to be glen, mingxian and chenghao. I remember vividly the times we went. Must be the 'gonna ORD' feeling that made it so memorable. I feel OLD~
Okay, Let's talk about work. A gal at my work place, desiree made a guess about my age today. Guess what? 19!! HAHAHAHAHH Okay, so far, I have people guessing 17, 19, 20. Woo hoo~~!! Needless to say, I was thrilled and flattered. Glenda once commented that I'm a funny guy cos I get so happy easily. (when people understates my age).HAHH Somehow true,I'm easily satisfied.
Juggling work and studies at the same time was already tough enough. Water polo, Subaru challenge and trekking plus lacrosse didn't make the load any lighter. I sercretly thought to myself, "Hey, you're one tough lad afterall!! Look at the amount of energy you're exhibiting!"
Bff had to burst my bubble.
" Take part in so many activities for what, you think you still young ar. "
Lacrosse
LAcrosse!! I wanna join!!
Calling for people to join the winning team!
The event is on 4th and 5th november.its on 4th and 5th of nov.
A team consists of 8 people. 5 will be playing while 3 will be reserves.
At least 2 gals to be playing at any one time.
The Sim-UOL Stuent Representative Council is a Student Union/Representative body, aims to bring students together through fun activities while taking care of the welfare of students. It consists of a few departments. Editorial, Projects, Welfare and Sports. For more info, click here .Every year, the Sports department trys to introduce a sport to the students. Last year was handball ( which received overwhelming response). This year would be Lacrosse.
For those who have no idea what is Lacrosse, click here. For the competition, I have no idea if they'll use the men's or women's version. Also, rules may be altered to accustom to the environment we'll be playing in. (likely to be in the school). If you have not click the link yet, let me explain briefly what Lacrosse is.
It is a sport played using a ball and a lacrosse stick/crosse. The head of the crosse has a loose net strung into it that allows the player to hold the lacrosse ball. The object of the game is to use the lacrosse stick to catch, carry, and pass the ball in an effort to score by ultimately hurling the ball into an opponent's goal.
So techincally, it requires skills in order to play the game. We will have to hone our passings skill. Which will be passing the ball from one crosse to another. It will be a hockey game if we were to keep dropping the ball, instead of keeping it in the net on our sticks.
If you have friends who are interested, please introduce them to me!!
Current winning team consists of me, ken, galvin, azan and shirleen. At least one more gal is needed!!
Painted skin and smiles
All right, Cheehui and Huiwen nailed it this time. I should have trusted my bff who watches all kinds of silly show, be it lame slapstick comedy or taiwan dramas (eg. hotshot), but still doesnt find them silly. So when she said, "Bu Hao Kan de lor!". I should have trusted her.The show wasnt up to our expectations although there were a few funny moments. And to me, the presence of Zhou Xun in the show was already worth the ticket price. HAHA! Nevertheless, it was a great gathering with peixuan gracing it. LOL Havent seen that girl for donkey years! Not even after she came back from Australia!! So it was a good catching up session. Usual gang includes Yiheng, Perry Nicholas, Ebonne and Lingxian. Really glad to be seeing peixuan again. She was my home econs partner back in secondary school days and my lower sec class partner.
Caught the midnight show after a day of school and work. Learnt how to make all the frappucchinos today!! It's really getting interesting at Starbucks. How I wish I could stay at the centrepoint store after my training. Bike broke down at Orchard road and it's still there while I'm typing this. The clutch cable snapped, and the machine wouldnt move. It's gonna be next week before I can purchase and replace the defect in the machine. Just when I needed the machine for timbre outing and school tomorrow,it chose to fail me again. Oh wells.. t may be a blessing in disguise. At least it didn't break down in the middle of nowhere or on the highway!
I'm sure we all know that we need to get the typoid vaccination jab before we work in the F&B industry. So I was at the clinic earlier on, waiting for my turn to get the jab in the crowded clinic located at Liat towers.
During my time there, I made an interesting discovery. Over at the counter, I swear i saw this lady smiling happily to the receptionist about how thankful she was at one time, the next moment, I saw a total different facial expression and no trace of her wide grin could be detected in anyway. It dawned on me that we Singaporeans have actually been 'trained' to put on fake smile on occasions that are of particular importance to us, without us realising it. Especially in public relations, where u need to build good relationships with your business partners.So it's quite selective in a way. We choose to smile when we want to put up a show (ok, let's not go into sociology). It's different from the foreign culture in the sense that the ang mohs smile when they're really happy. It's so genuine that u could really feel their happiness. I bet that if you were to smile at a stranger in Singapore, he'll probably think u're crazy.
If only everyone is genuine in their approach to friends, issues and relationships. This bring us to Confucianism but we shall not talk about it now.
Ps: Time now: 2.47am and msm lecture later at 8.30am.
An unexpected call.
A call from an unexpected caller! It has been a long time since she called. We only spoke a few lines before her voice started to tremble. It was as if I could see her facial expression there and then when I heard her weakened voice through the other end. She broke into tears and I could not understand what she was saying anymore. Not with her muffled voice and the not-so-silent background. It was as if someone had placed a piece of cloth over her mouth while she tried to speak.She dropped the line, promising to call back later.
No, No one was kidnapped! It was a call from my good friend. Someone whom I havent been meeting up with, Someone whom I haven talk to for a while and she is safe. If it was a call to check on my well-being, how I have been doing recently, I couldn't tell it at all. It was her troubled voice. Something which I havent heard in a long time.
When she finally called back, her voice was clear, no longer as muffled as earlier on. Safely back at her house, she then proceed to tell me what has happened. It was an issue on relationships.
*Insert secret*
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
So this was what happened.. Being the nonchalent me, appears even more so when dealing with BGR. Not knowing how to console and comfort her, attended to the issue for awhile before brushing it off like dust fallen on my shoulder. I could've been more encouraging, considering that I'm one of the first few person she always think of when she's in need. I didn't know what else to do, other than to lend her a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on.
However, I've not been updated of the early events, leading to this predicament due to breakdown in communication between me and her. I'm far behind when it comes to updates about her and I can say the same about her. I'd love to blame all this on her if I could, that she's not spending any time on me for her busy schedule. But deep inside, I know I'm responsible in a way too. Deep Deep inside...(We all know communication is 2way, unlike communicate). We had a short chat, catching up with each other before we put the phone down.
Aren't we all like this? You waiting for me to call you and me waiting for you to call me, before we all drifted apart? This aint free incoming call advertisement. Had you spend enough time on your once closest friend, he/she wouldn't have drifted apart and leave eventually. I'm really affected about this. Friends should always save time aside, to maintain their relationships. No matter how close you and your BFFE(Best Friend Forever Ever) are, you should always spend time together once in awhile sustain the relationship. Few relationships can stand the test of time without proper communication. We shall not assume ours can.
If your friendship is breaking down because either one of you are not willing to give in, or cos you think your other half is being too calculative. Think again, arnt you acting the same way?How much can a sms cost you? If you are acting this way yourself , you have no right to judge or comment on others. Instead of asking people to give, ask yourself what can you give? If you can't do it, do not expect others to do it.
I was once often troubled by the issue of friendships. And throughout my blog, It is likely you'll see the issue on friendship coming on and off once in awhile. We need to learn how to communicate with others in this century. Too many friends and Zero friend can be as much problems. We shall learn more hopefully in the future posts. As the saying goes,
'No Man Is An Island'
(Literally)
PS: The phrase, 'No man is an island' does not mean that Man is alone on island or man cannot survive alone on the island.(If you've watch the movie, 'Castaway'). Look it up! Lazybum!
Blessed~~
I spent the whole day at school. HAHA! I'm serious! Last lesson ended at 10pm.. So, I was telling Cecilia how blessed I'm feeling nowadays after our class.
My time table has changed totally as compared to last year this time..
Last year...
I had no work. Now, I'm working at starbucks.
I had no CCA other than the council which I kinda did nothing ( not that its the council's fault, of course! =p), this year, I'm actively involved in water polo.
Official Training days are Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Saturday friendly games at TP, Sunday games day at queensway.
I trekked MT Pelepah during odac orientation..This year, I've trekked Mt kinabalu, Mac ritchie, bukit timah and I'm going for this upcoming odac trek.
I'm also constantly taking part in public events and games, attending gatherings ranging from secondary school friends' gathering, editorial committee games sessions, birthday celebrations, Ex colleagues' gathering, mahjong sessions and bike lessons!
Also I'm trying to spend more time with my family. (I'M TRYING!)
My timetable's really packed now as compared to last year where I was doing nothing most of the time. Practically Nothing! Zero value added! Ok, I may be overstating and not giving credits to the stuff I achieved and accomplished last year.
But this year's definitely a busier year, considering school started at a later time for 2nd year students.
So I had quite a chat with Cecilia, updating her with what's been going on in my life and how bless I feel. These are the few things I'm currently enjoying:
Waking up early on Saturdays due to classes, instead of sleeping the morning away
Going trekking, water polo when I'm free
Taking part in the upcoming Subaru regional challenge
Taking the modules I kinda like, namely Marketing, Management Mathematics, Management Science Methods and Principles of Accounting, with all being taught by the right people.
When I go school on thursday, I meet Cecilia. When I go school on Friday, I meet Cheehui, when I go school on Saturday, I......... ok lah, I see Elias. HAHAH!
My family's been really accomodating to my frequent outings. If they're mad about me coming home late, not revising my work when I'm free, they're definitely not showing it.Speaking of which, I better do something to improve my grades in order to 'repay' them. I'm really worried about my modules as I havent been keeping up the past few lectures.
I better improve my time management if I wanna score well this semester.
Starbucks
Finally~~!! I had my FIRST in-store training after much delay.
The coffee master was rather surprised that I was so far behind my schedule all thanks to Hari raya last week. My training store is not the actual store which I'll be working at. I was posted here, as my store was too busy to conduct any training..
Okay, back to the story.I thought that since I'm working in starbucks now, I should pay more attention than ever to news about Starbucks, the global company which has built massive chains of outlets all over the world.
I have been introduced to Starbucks' culture, its mission statements, dedication to corporate social responsibilities , and how they attempt to give back to the farmers, namely, the coffee growers and the direction that the company is heading generally.
NEWS of the day!
Starbucks has landed itself in hot water!!
Well, if you had read strait times today, you'd see the news in the Home section.
If you're wondering which page, obviously you haven read the papers cos it was on the coverpage.
It's about the Environmental Experts pointing out that Starbucks is actually wasting tons of water by allowing its taps to run non-stop. For more information, click here.
For those who are lazy to read, and to help those who had read but didn't understand what's going on, I shall explain further.
You see, when you guys ordered your cappuccinos or lattes. The milk which is poured into your drinks has to be steamed beforehand. And to create the foamy thingy on yr cappuccinos, so u can make funny faces on it with condiments or whatever, needs a spoon.
The spoon is constantly used and so it is placed near the beverage section, under constantly running tap ( as mentioned in the article).
So, the tap will clean the spoons which are normally covered in milk residue,by overflowing the milk+foam+dirty contents into tiny holes near the brim. The 'mini sink' near the beverage counter also contains thermometers. So the environmentalists were referring to this.
As an official Starbucks partner, I really have to be careful with what I post and what I blog.
So, I was told, " If you're approached by any reporter and media personnel, you can tell them, *insert standard politically correct answer here* "
Things can be really complicated especially when the largest coffeehouse company in the world, with 15,012 stores in 44 countries ( as extracted from wikipedia) is being accused of water wastage by environmental pressure group.
And mind you, its water wastage! When the problems of global warming is a pressing issue, where sea level rises, temperature rises, leading to extreme weathers and water scarcity. (As sea level rise, salt water intrude underground water, higher temperature reduce effectiveness of reservoirs).
Things become not that simple anymore. It's not like making newater to overcome water shortage. It's water scarcity. It applies worldwide. I'm sure Starbucks will be trying to maintain its 'responsible image' and staying off the environmentalists' blacklist.
Afterall, the IPO company is still answerable to all its stakeholders and shareholders. Meanwhile, I was trying to remember the recipes for the beverages. When I finally come to the conclusion that I need to jot them down....
I realised I left my learning book at the store...
What would it be?
If you could choose your superhero power, what would it be?
Would you have titanium claws in your knuckles like wolverine? Ability to teleport and walk through time Like Masi? OR the power to heal people?
Personally, I would like to have the power which allows me to listen to the inner voice of others. Much like Matt parkman from the tv series, Heroes.
Ok, I admit I'm curious about what people think of me. But I'm also curious about what's going on in people's mind! People like.. WANPING. HAHA Cindy and some other people la.
You ever find your friends interesting when they suddenly splurt someth out, which astonishes everyone? something that no one thought of, something that's so out of the blue. I wonder how their brain works.
BE it genius's or dimwit. I'm interested. Yet at the same time, I'm afraid I might discover 'bad things' . Bad things here refers to people badmouthing you.
What if... your best friend never liked you? What if.. someone you trusted all along, hates you? What if your friends are hiding something from you? Best. what if you're not yr parents' child?
It would be so hurtful..
Perhaps such power should come with a switch so that we can choose when to turn it off and when to turn it on.
Surprise! Surprise!
WOAH!!!!!!
I made 2 discoveries.
One had my eyebrow raised. While the other made me laugh. Its about how these people became couples. Under the most unexpected circumstances.
I shall not comment about others' relationships here. Quite none of my business. HAHA!
The other one is about my friend. whom i shall not post here. I bet she doesn't realise how much I care about her, like most of my friends.
I'm quite concerned about my friends, especially when they expressed their unhappiness, or when I can see that they're feeling low. It really affects me when people around me are unhappy. Anyway, She's really interesting! Ask me about it!
6/6
OH ya. Started the day with Cindy cursing me and all other people with perfect eyesight!! (that explains the title of this entry)
The lasik craze has now FINALLY caught up with her and I think she's gonna do it soon. But of course not before we understand the procedures yet ! Hmm.. To think that lasik was once such an expensive surgery that not many can afford. Bringing me back to the times when contact lenses are hard glasses you had to place onto your eyeballs which has all been replaced by plastic now. And so, Miss Cindy started lecturing me about the normal lasik and epilasik procedures.
Firstly, Let's start with lasik.
In layman terms, they'll use a suction to suck your eyeball so you won't move your eye.
Then, they cut a C shape cut along your cornea.. (OUCH!) And they open it like a flap.
After which, they'll ask you to look at the lasik equipment for 6 seconds or so. Then they put a plaster( which looks like a contact lense, not the hansaplast!) onto your eyeball.
Epi-lasik is like a cross between lasik and lasek. Apparently, there would be less complications. And it's more suitable for people with low myopia, due to their less steep corneas.
OUCHHhhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
Putting on contact lense is already scary enough for me, not to mention cutting your cornea while you're awake! But then again, I really can imagine the inconvenience that comes along with being shortsighted.
Imagine this, first thing you wake up in the morning, you gotta reach for yr glasses. Open your eyes and the world is such a blur to you. (try opening your eyes under water if you cannot picture this)
Also, swimming would be such a hassle with the need to purchase an optical goggles, just to mention one of the many other sports hindered by the spectacles, especially badminton!!
I'm really blessed in a way =)
PS disclaimer: Contents about lasik and epi-lasik are purely blogger's personal conceptions. Do contact your nearest dental clinic or your personal/family dentist for more information.
To ride~ Or Not to ride~~
woOHoo~! A rainy day at SSDC where I took my assessment test so that I could take the traffic police test. So during my time there from 1230 to 530, I made a malay friend. I met him previously in our lesson. He was taking lessons for class 2.
So I asked him,
"So, what bike are you riding now?"
He replied with a laugh, " HAA! WAVE~ RELAC one..."
For those of you who dono what's a wave, it looks like this
HAHA! Honda Wave 125 is a scooter with 125cc.
So following up, I asked him curiously, ' So what bike are you changing to after u upgraded your license?"And mind you, his new upgraded license will enable him to ride any bike above 400CC. Practically, any bikes in Singapore.
" Dono leh.. Wave can already la. Singapore, how fast you want to go?"
This line suddenly shone light onto me. Although bikes in my class are all
ugly ones, I was thinking of changing to a RVF or Superfour.
It suddenly dawned on me that maybe I don really need a bigger bike to ride faster. I can just TRY to ride faster with my current sports bike. But then again, there's this safety aspect to consider.
Speeding with a 10 year old SP. With a leaking oil container, failing gear lever just don't make me feel safe enough. Though the brakes are working excellent, but who would wan to ride a bike with only the brakes working as the best part!~
I shall pass my TP first before we talk about this. So far so good. Cleared all lessons and assessment with one attempt each. TP will be the next one.
Those were the days~~
I was talking to this friend of mine and the conversation ended with us quarrelling AGAIN.. Whenever we quarrelled, I couldn't help but think how different we have become compared to when we were younger. How we used to talk on phone almost everyday for hours..
It's quite cruel in the sense that time stops for no one.
For some of us, we grew up playing with our closest friends, fighting with them, going each other's houses then to our seperate ways into different Secondary Schools,JC and Polytechnics, to them knowing new friends, then to their boyfriends or girlfriends before finally LOSING them.
Well, i think that people you meet in your life are like passer-bys you see at the bus stops.
How much they influence you is to the extent u remember them. Some go without leaving any footprints, these are people like your primary school teacher whom you don't remember, someone who knocked into you while you were queueing up. They were part of your life, but left little or no impact on you. While others leave their footprints behind by taking part a chunk of your life and influencing or inspiring you in one way or another! It maybe in terms of what constitutes you today, your character, your attitude towards life be it in a good or bad way. OR it may be an incident which led you to behave differently from the past you.
can you think of one such person?
If you can't think of anyone, it's probably cos you havent thought hard enough yet!
My secondary school friends WERE a big part of me and they still ARE!
We spent 4 freaking years together hee hee haa haa and before we know it! It was Olevels!
Ok i admit primary school was like 6 freaking years but all i could remember from my primary school days was bringing toys to school after exams period!
Secondary school days memories are much more fresh compared to primary school ones.
A place where people meet their pals for life, where stupid boys start to like pretty gals and they get together , live happily ever kind. With all the happening CCAs, and project works, it was really fun! Speaking of which, I kinda miss home economics lesson.
I never imagined myself saying this,BUT Seconday school days ROCK!
That's when the nostalgic feeling comes.. I miss some of my good old friends and their good old selves..Where we all looked so innocent and happy..Where economics only reminds me of cooking and sewing instead of demand, supply, money flows.
Those were the good old days~~
oh ya, for my primary school friends who are reading this, I dreamt of my primary school crush last night. Anyone knows where is she now? I totally lost her~!
